Civita Castellana

Town in Viterbo province, Lazio region, west-central Italy, built above rocky gorges 30 km/19 mi southeast of Viterbo; population (1991) 15,500. It has a ceramics industry. There is a 13th-century cathedral and a 15th-century castle; ruins of the ancient Etruscan city of Falerii are nearby.
