Clairton

City in Allegheny County, southwestern Pennsylvania, USA, 16 km/10 mi southeast of Pittsburgh; population (1990) 9,700. It is the site of a major steel, coke, and coal chemical plant established by USX (formerly US Steel) that runs for 7 km/4.5 mi along the Monongahela River.
