Clear cell carcinoma of the skin: a variant of the squamous cell carcinoma that simulates sebaceous carcinoma.
MECs must be distinguished from necrotizing sialometaplasia, chronic sialadenitis, cystadenoma, cystadenocarcinoma, squamous cell carcinoma, epithelial-myoepithelial carcinoma, clear cell carcinoma (not otherwise specified), and metastatic tumors.
The histologic appearance of a renal cell carcinoma also varies according to its pathologic variants, the most common being a clear cell carcinoma (clear border of the cell, round or oval nuclei, and empty cytoplasm).
