ClearType

Font technology developed by Microsoft in 1998 for use in electronic book readers and personal digital assistants, and first used on Pocket PC devices in 2000. By addressing an area smaller than a pixel, ClearType makes screen type easier to read, especially on the liquid-crystal displays found on laptop computers.
