Clement, Franz (Joseph) (1780-1842)

Austrian violinist, who first appeared at the age of seven. He was leader of the orchestra at the Theater an der Wien in Vienna 1802-11 and 1817-21. Beethoven wrote his violin concerto for him, which he premiered in 1806. In the same concert he performed variations with his violin turned upside down.
