Clewiston

City in Hendry County, south-central Florida, USA, on the southern shore of Lake Okeechobee, 80 km/50 mi west of West Palm Beach; population (1990) 6,100. In a prime sugar cane growing region, it is, like Belle Glade to the east-southeast, a centre for sugar milling and distribution. It is also a resort.
