Climate variability and environmental degradation caused by Climate Change have become serious challenge to the existence of humanity. The researchers use examples from recent paleoecological studies to highlight how climate variability of the past has affected the distributions of tree species, and even how events that occurred many centuries ago still shape present-day distributions patterns. More than half of Asias total population lives below the US $ two per day poverty line, and it is this sector of the population that tends to depend on rain-fed agriculture and live in settlements that are highly exposed to climate variability and change. |
