Clwyd

Former county of north Wales, created in 1974 and, in 1996, divided between Conwy, Denbighshire, Flintshire, Powys, and Wrexham unitary authorities.

Clwyd

River in northeast Wales, rising in the Denbigh Moors and Clwydian Hills, and flowing past St Asaph and Rhuddlan into the Irish Sea at Rhyl; length 64km/40 mi. The Elwy is the main tributary. The Clwyd valley has fine scenery.
