Coates, Anne V (1925- )

English film editor. Working in the UK and Hollywood, she has crafted a number of major productions, including the epic Lawrence of Arabia (1962) for which she received an Academy Award. She was nominated again for Becket (1964), and also cut Tunes of Glory (1960), The Eagle Has Landed (1976), and Greystoke (1984).

Coates was born in Reigate, Surrey. She was first employed as a nurse, but moved into film editing in the early 1950s. Her early works include The Pickwick Papers (1952).
