Cobb County

County in northwestern Georgia, USA; area 888 sq km/343 sq mi; population (1990) 447,700. The county is bounded to the southeast by the Chattahoochee River, in the Piedmont. Its seat and industrial centre is Marietta. Cobb County is the site of Kennesaw Mountain National Battlefield Park and several of Atlanta's northwestern suburbs. Its population rose dramatically during the 1980s as a consequence of Atlanta's suburban growth.
