coefficientNumber part in front of an algebraic term, signifying multiplication. For example, in the expression 4x2 + 2xy − x, the coefficient of x2 is 4 (because 4x2 means 4 × x2), that of xy is 2, and that of x is −1 (because −1 × x = −x). In general algebraic expressions, coefficients are represented by letters that may stand for numbers; for example, in the equation ax2 + bx + c = 0, a, b, and c are coefficients, which can take any number. |

| com; Bergen op Zoom, The Netherlands), new materials developments are showing solutions vis-a-vis one of the key problems that plastics seem to present, which is the coefficient of thermal expansion (CTE). The new circuit boards also had enough strength and rigidity to satisfy industrial requirements, and a coefficient of thermal expansion similar to silicon dioxide and polyimides. Its coefficient of thermal expansion is slightly lower than that of 2% Be-Cu, but its strength and elongation are also a little lower. |
