Cohen, Gerson D (1924-1991)

US rabbi and historian. Librarian of the Jewish Theological Seminary of America 1950-57, then professor of history, he was also professor of Semitic languages at Columbia University. While he was chancellor of the seminary 1972-86, the first women were admitted to its rabbinical course.

He was born in New York City. He graduated from City College of New York.
