Cohn, Arthur (1910-1998)

US composer, conductor, and writer. He studied at the Juilliard School, New York, and conducted in Philadelphia 1942-65. His books include Twentieth-Century Music in Western Europe (1961) and The Encyclopedia of Chamber Music (1990). He wrote six string quartets (1928-45), a flute concerto (1941), and Kaddisch for orchestra (1965).
