Ballater

Town and former burgh in Aberdeenshire unitary authority, Scotland, on the River Dee, 68 km/43 mi west of Aberdeen; population (2001) 1,450. Situated close to the royal residence of Balmoral Castle and surrounded by numerous beauty spots, it has developed into a bustling tourist centre.
