Colas Breugnon

Opera by Dmitri Kabalevsky (libretto by V Bragin after R Rolland's novel), first produced in Leningrad (now St Petersburg), Russia, on 22 February 1938; it was revised in 1953 and 1969. In the story the carpenter Colas recalls his colourful life, in which he revenges himself on the Duke who has destroyed his creations.
