Colasse, Pascal (1649-1709)

French composer. In about 1677 he obtained an appointment at the Opéra from Jean-Baptiste Lully, in whose works he wrote some of the subordinate parts.

He studied at the Maîtrise de Saint-Paul and the Collège de Navarre in Paris. In 1683 he became one of the four superintendents of the royal chapel, each of whom had to direct the music for three months per year, and two years later he shared with Michel Lalande the appointment of royal chamber musician. In 1696 he was appointed maître de musique de chambre.
