Colchis

In ancient geography, a territory situated on the east coast of the Black Sea, along the River Rioni, south of the Caucasus Mountains. Now part of Georgia, it is a swampy low-lying region with a subtropical climate. Citrus fruits, tea, and grain crops (chiefly maize) are cultivated, and linen has been manufactured here since antiquity.

Colchis was noted in Greek mythology as a realm of sorcery, the land of Medea and the goal of Jason's search for the Golden Fleece.
