Cold Spring Harbor

Town in Huntington, Suffolk County, southeastern New York, USA, on Long Island's North Shore; population (1990) 4,800. It is an affluent town with many old homes.

Situated on the southeastern arm of Oyster Bay, it was a 19th-century whaling port. The Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory, a leading biological research centre, is here.
