Cole, Johnetta Betsch (1936- )

US cultural anthropologist and academic administrator. She taught at the University of California at Los Angeles, Washington State, the University of Massachusetts, and Hunter College (New York City). She became president of Spelman College, Atlanta, in 1987. She was author and editor of All American Women (1986) and Anthropology for the Nineties (1988).

She was born in Jacksonville, Florida. A graduate of Oberlin College, she received a PhD from Northwestern in 1967.
