Culpeper

Town in north-central Virginia, USA, 51 km/32 mi west-northwest of Fredericksburg, in the Piedmont; seat of Culpeper County; population (1990) 8,600. Culpeper has experienced significant growth in recent years. Some high technology industry has moved into the surrounding agricultural countryside, and there are tourist businesses.

Civil War landmarks in the area include Brandy Station, just to the northeast.
