Nyon

Commune in the canton of Vaud, Switzerland, on the western shore of Lake Geneva, about 20 km/12 mi north of Geneva; population (2000) 16,200. Nyon produces fine porcelain and lies at the junction of the Geneva–Lausanne railway line and a line running into France.

Nyon was the site of the Roman colony of Julia Equestris.
