Colonus

Ancient village of Attica, Greece, now an area in central Athens. The ancient Greek dramatist Sophocles (5th century BC) was born here, and immortalized the village in his play Oedipus at Colonus. Colonus had a temple dedicated to Poseidon (the ancient Greek god of the sea) and the legendary tomb of Oedipus.
