Columna Rostrata

Triumphal pillar in the forum in Rome which commemorated the victory of the Roman general Gaius Duilius over the Carthaginian fleet off Mylae 260 BC. The name originated in the fact that the column was decorated with the prows (Latin rostra) of the captured vessels.
