Comanche County

County in southwestern Oklahoma, USA; area 2,787 sq km/1,076 sq mi; population (1990) 111,500. The county includes most of the Wichita Mountains. Its seat and only large city is Lawton. The huge Fort Sill Military Reservation occupies much of its centre, and has had a great influence on its history and economy. The rest of the county has limestone, haematite, and granite mines, gravel pits, oilfields, and some cattle ranches. Its products include cotton, wheat, hay, and oats.
