Also published twice a year, the "Asian Journal of Criminology" is designed to advance the study of criminology and criminal justice in Asia, to promote evidence-based public policy in crime prevention, and to promote comparative studies about crime and criminal justice. A marriage of these two philosophies in comparative studies is best achieved through on-site studies. Ballinger explains in the "Preface" that his work addresses three shortcomings in the scholarship on Native tricksters: the absence of comparative studies of the many different tribal tricksters; the absence of studies of tricksters grounded in American Indian traditions and cultures; and the lack of book-length studies of tricksters. |
