Computer Professionals for Social Responsibility

US organization advocating the responsible use of computers. Based in Washington, DC, it was one of the first organizations to oppose President Reagan's Strategic Defense Initiative on the grounds that the many billions of lines of code it would take to program it could never be debugged successfully.

In 1999, he received the Louis Brandeis Award from Privacy International, in 1998 a Lifetime Achievement Award from Secure Computing Magazine, and in 1996 the Norbert Wiener Award from Computer Professionals for Social Responsibility for promoting the responsible use of technology.
The RTP Chapter of Computer Professionals for Social Responsibility (CPSR) is sponsoring a "Forum on Personal Privacy" on May 23rd from 1 to 4pm in Kamphoefner auditorium located on the North Campus of North Carolina State University.
