Concepción del Uruguay

Town in the province of Entre Ríos, Argentina, 230 km/143 mi north of Buenos Aires; population (1996) 62,300. Situated on the right bank of the Río Uruguay, it is an important port and the terminus of the regular river boat service from Buenos Aires. It is also the terminus of the several railways serving the province. Meat, cereals, and other agricultural products from the area constitute its main trade.

Concepción del Uruguay was founded in 1783, and was until 1883 the provincial capital.
