Concordia

City and river port of Entre Ríos province, Argentina, situated on the right bank of the River Uruguay opposite Salto in Uruguay; population (1996) 116,491. The chief industries are meat packing and processing, along with other by-products of the livestock industry. Major exports are meat, hides, maize, flax, and fruit.

There are a number of fine public buildings in Concordia; the famous Rivadavia Park lies on the outskirts of the city.

A dam and hydroelectric power station, built jointly by Argentina and Uruguay, is situated at Salto Grande, 32 km/20 mi upstream from Concordia. Concordia marks the limit of navigation for vessels up the Uruguay River; upstream from here are rapids and waterfalls.
