pyloric stenosis

Narrowing of the stomach outlet (pylorus) that prevents the onward movement of food. It causes distension of the stomach and vomiting. It may be congenital or, in adults, can be caused by the presence of an ulcer or cancer in the region of the pylorus. Treatment is with surgery.
