Connally, (Thomas Terry) Tom (1877-1963)

US Democratic representative and senator. He served in the US House of Representatives 1917-29, and the US Senate 1929-53. A conservative on domestic policy, he supported Southern business interests and opposing anti-lynching legislation. He was an influential internationalist, supporting US participation in the United Nations and the North Atlantic Treaty Organization.

He was born near Waco, Texas. He was a lawyer by profession.
