Conner, David

Conner, David (1792–1856)

US naval officer. He served with distinction in the War of 1812 against Britain. As commander of the Home Squadron 1843–47 he meticulously planned the amphibious landing of General Winfield Scott's troops at Veracruz. His plans were later studied as a precedent for World War II amphibious landings.

He was born in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania.
