Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique

The chief school of music in Paris, France, opened in 1795 with Bernard Sarrette as director, having grown out of the École Royale du Chant, established in 1784 under the direction of François Gossec. Later directors were Luigi Cherubini, Daniel Auber, Ambroise Thomas, François Dubois, Gabriel Fauré, Henri Rabaud, Claude Delvincourt, Marcel Dupré, and Raymond Loucheur.
