Conspicuous Gallantry Cross

British military award, second only to the Victoria Cross in honour, instituted in October 1993. It is awarded regardless of rank. It replaced the Conspicuous Gallantry Medal, the Distinguished Conduct Medal, and the Distinguished Service Order for particular acts of heroism. The first CGC was awarded in May 1995.
