contact improvisation

In dance, improvised movement sequences often seen in avant-garde dance. The sequences are the result of intuitive communication between two or more dancers, which is used to explore the changes in the dynamics of movement between them. It was instigated 1972 by US dancer and teacher Steve Paxton (1939– ). Contact improvisation is used both as a choreographic tool and as a form of therapy through movement.
