Contadora Group

Alliance formed between Colombia, Mexico, Panama, and Venezuela in January 1983 to establish a general peace treaty for Central America and a Central American parliament (similar to the European Parliament).

Support for the Contadora Group has come from Argentina, Brazil, Peru, and Uruguay, as well as from the Central American states. It was named after Contadora, the island of the Pearl Group in the Gulf of Panama where the first meeting was held.
