conveyorDevice used for transporting materials. Widely used throughout industry is the conveyor belt, usually a rubber or fabric belt running on rollers. Trough-shaped belts are used, for example in mines, for transporting ores and coal. Chain conveyors are also used in coal mines to remove coal from the cutting machines. Crossbars attached to an endless chain drag the coal along a trough. Overhead endless chain conveyors are used to carry components and bodies in car-assembly works. Other types include bucket conveyors and screw conveyors, powered versions of the Archimedes screw. How to thank TFD for its existence?
