is a term, for the part of West Bengal, which often denotes Cooch Behar, Darjeeling, Jalpaiguri, North Dinajpur, South Dinajpur and Malda districts together.
Her father, Prince Jitendra Narayan of Cooch Behar, was the younger brother of the Yuvraja the Crown Prince of India and her mother was Princess Indira Raje of Baroda, herself an extremely beautiful princess and a legendary socialite.
She was born into the royal family of Cooch Behar in what is now eastern India on May 23, 1919, decades before the partition of the subcontinent that heralded the demise of Indian royalty.
