Cooper, Eileen (1933– )

English artist. Her paintings, executed in a bold linear fashion, explore a wide range of emotions, often from a feminist viewpoint, and are frequently haunting in their simplicity. Samples of her work may be found in the collections of the Victoria and Albert Museum, London, the Contemporary Art Society, and the Arts Council of Great Britain.

Cooper was born in Glossop, Derbyshire. She studied at Goldsmiths' College, and at the Royal College of Art, London, and became a visiting lecturer at Central St Martins College of Art, London. She exhibits widely.
