Cooper, Martin (Du Pré) (1910-1986)

English writer on music, and the father of Imogen Cooper. He was educated at Winchester College and Oxford, and studied music with Wellesz in Vienna. His work included books on Gluck, Bizet, and Beethoven. He was chief music critic of The Daily Telegraph 1950-76 and was editor of The Musical Times 1953-56.
