Kodagu

Mountainous district of the state of Karnataka in the Western Ghats of India; population (1991) 838,500. Formerly the princely state of Coorg, the British took control in 1934. Coffee was introduced, and has become the staple crop. Kodagu was incorporated in Karnataka in 1956.
