Cootehill

Town in County Cavan, Republic of Ireland, between the River Annalee and the Dromore tributary; population (2002) 1,500. Cootehill is named after English planters who confiscated the lands from the O'Reillys, rulers of the ancient territory of east Breifne.

At Cohaw, 5 km/3 mi from Cootehill, is a court cairn tomb, Cohaw Giant's Grave.

Cootehill was the birthplace of Thomas Brady (1752–1827), who became privy councillor of Austria and governor of Dalmatia.
