Coppola, Pier Antonio (1793–1877)

Italian composer. He studied at Naples and produced his first opera, Il figlio del bandito/The Bandit's son, there in 1816. He worked in Lisbon in 1839–42 as conductor of the San Carlo Theatre and again 1850–71.

Works

operas La pazza per amore (Eva in French), 1835), Gli Illinesi, Inés de Castro (1841); Masses, litanies and other church music.
