Corbin

City in Whitley and Knox Counties, southeastern Kentucky, USA, near the Laurel River, 126 km/78 mi south-southeast of Lexington, on the Wilderness Road; population (1990) 7,400. An agricultural trading and sawmilling centre, it also manufactures car parts, brick, soft drinks, and processed foods. It is a rail junction with repair shops, and a shipping point for the region's bituminous coal.

Colonel Harland Sanders, founder of the Kentucky Fried Chicken chain, began business here.

Daniel Boone National Forest is just to the west.
