Cantabrian Mountains

Mountain range running along the north coast of Spain, continuing the line of the Pyrenees westwards for about 480 km/300 mi, parallel to the coast of the Bay of Biscay. They rise to 2,648 m/8,688 ft in the Picos de Europa massif. The mountains contain coal and iron deposits, but they are of poor quality; little is mined today.
