WordPerfect| Word-processing program for various computers produced by US software company WordPerfect Corp. It was first released in 1982 and by 1987 was the dominant MS-DOS word processor, rapidly eclipsing the previous leader, WordStar, by offering many more features, despite having the reputation of being difficult to learn. |
| WordPerfect Corp was slow to release a version of WordPerfect for Windows, and when it did appear in 1992 it suffered in comparison with Microsoft Word. WordPerfect Corp was taken over by Novell, but the union was not a success, and most of its software was sold on cheaply to Corel. |
