Corinth, Lovis

Corinth, Lovis (1858–1925)

German painter, etcher, and lithographer. He was a leading exponent of Impressionism in Germany, and was particularly good at portraits. He studied in Königsberg (now Kaliningrad) and Munich and in Paris under Adolphe Bouguereau. From 1900 he worked in Berlin and was active in the Berlin Sezession.
