Coriolano

Family of engravers. Cristoforo (died 1600), a native of Nuremberg, cut the portraits for the second edition of Giorgio Vasari's Lives of the Painters, published in Florence 1568. Giovanni Battista (c. 1590–1649) was sometimes thought to be the son of Cristoforo, but was probably his grandson. His cuts in wood are few, his work consisting chiefly of engravings and etchings on copper. Bartolomeo (c. 1599–1676), also said to be the son of Cristoforo, was born in Bologna. He executed some prints in chiaroscuro, but his principal work is The Fall of the Giants, based on a painting by Guido Reni.
