Coronation Anthems

Four anthems by Handel, composed for the coronation of George II and performed at the ceremony in Westminster Abbey, London, on 11 October 1727. 1. ‘Zadok the Priest’, 2. ‘The King shall Rejoice’, 3. ‘My heart is Inditing’, 4. ‘Let Thy Hand be Strengthened’. A number of other composers, from Henry Cooke in the 17th century to Ralph Vaughan Williams in the 20th, have written anthems for coronations in England.
