Corrette, Michel (1709-1795)

French organist, teacher, and composer. He held various organist's posts from 1737, and between 1737 and 1784 published 17 methods on performing practice; these included L'École d'orphée (1738), for violin, Les Amusements du Parnasse (1749), for harpsichord, Le Parfait Maître à chanter (1758), Les Dons d'Apollon (1762), for guitar, Les Délices de la solitude (1766), for cello, Nouvelle Méthode pour apprendre la harpe (1774), and Le Berger galant (1784), for flute.

Ballet

Les Ages (1733) and Le Lys (1752).

Sacred music

motets, Te Deum (1752), Laudate Dominum (1766), Trois leçons de ténèbres for low voice and organ (1784).

Secular music

vocal pieces including ariettes and cantatas; concertos for musette, vielle, flute, and violin; sonatas, organ and harpsichord music.
