Cossotto, Fiorenza (1935- )

Italian mezzo-soprano. She made her debut at La Scala, Milan, in the premiere of Poulenc's Carmélites in 1957; her other roles at La Scala have included Azucena, Eboli, Adalgisa, and Santuzza. She has performed at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden, London, since 1959, making her debut in Cherubini's Médée. Her US debut was in Chicago in 1964, and she sang Amneris at the New York Metropolitan Opera House in 1968, and at Buenos Aires in 1990.
